Stevedore Buildings 2 and 3 are located at the Port of Houston and used as break rooms and restrooms for longshoreman and office space for the executive staff. In order to further The Port's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, the buildings were creatively constructed out of recycled shipping containers. The Port of Houston brought Blue Quality Services on board to perform a design review prior to construction, enclosure site visits during construction, and performance testing on window to ensure quality installation.
During the design phase of the project, our consultants reviewed the enclosure assembly designs for operational performance and constructability. Once the building wall, window, and roofing performance needs were identified, we reviewed the drawings, details, and specifications for potential issues, conformance with project requirements, and constructability concerns. Once in the construction phase, our field services team visited the site to verify installation was meeting project specifications.
To verify the window installation, our field services team performed spray rack and nozzle water spray testing on both lower and upper floor windows. All windows passed the performance testing and showed no signs of leakage.
