Air Tightness Testing

Testing for air leakage in buildings and constructed assemblies is the only way to ensure the enclosure design is sufficient and the installation of the air barrier is adequate.

Air infiltration across assemblies has been shown to be the root cause of the moisture damage and high-energy costs. Blue Quality Services has extensive experience performing Air Tightness Testing across a wide array of facility types and has a proven track record for assessing quality in large commercial buildings.

Blue Quality Services performs the following tests for clients nationwide.

    • US Army Corps of Engineers Whole Building Air Leakage
    • ASTM E283 – Rate of Air Leakage Through Exterior Doors, Windows, and Curtain Walls Under Specified Pressure Differences
    • ASTM E783 – Field Measurement of Air Leakage

We’ve found that owning our own equipment, utilizing an in-house, fully trained staff, and self-performing each Air Leakage Test, provides the most value to our clients. Using a specialized, state-of-the art testing approach, our certified technicians measure air leakage rates through the building envelope under controlled pressurization and depressurization in order to develop an understanding of the buildings' air barrier continuity and installation quality.
